A research was conducted to determine the most frequent species of tetranychid mites associated with cultivated plants in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, and neighboring agricultural areas. Mites were collected by beating the plant foliage over a white tray and/or white paper; mites were picked up from these surfaces and preserved in a solution of 70 % ethanol. This biological material was mounted using a dissecting microscope, and mites were identified using the compound microscope following the criteria and taxonomic keys by Jeppson (1975), Tuttle, Baker y Abbatiello (1976), Krantz (1978), Tuttle and Baker (1968) and Lindquist (quoted by ResÈndiz, 1991).
