La Nanotecnología: “nano aliados” de los cultivos frente al estrés hídrico

Ante el incremento poblacional la agricultura se ha visto en la necesidad de buscar alternativas eficientes y sostenibles para la producción de alimentos. Sumado a esto, los problemas ocasionados por los factores abióticos limitan la productividad de los cultivos. El estrés hídrico en los cultivos representa un desafió en la producción de alimentos, por lo que se requiere implementar estrategias que contrarresten este problema. La nanotecnología es una herramienta innovadora y útil para desarrollar plantas capaces de enfrentar el estrés abiótico. El uso de nanomateriales en la agricultura tiene la visión de impactar favorablemente mediante un suministro razonable. Por sus características nanométricas y un desplazamiento más eficiente, reduce las pérdidas de nutrientes, aumentan el rendimiento y ayuda a un uso eficiente del agua en los cultivos. Sin embargo, aún se desconocen los posibles alcances de la nanotecnología en los desafíos de la agricultura a largo plazo. Esta revisión busca distinguir una perspectiva de la aplicación de la nanotecnología como posible alternativa sostenible para la agricultura frente a desafíos abióticos.
